The Etihad Museum has moved another step towards completion, with a visit from Sheikh Mohammed recently to inspect the development. The Museum will celebrate the history of the UAE, and represents a significant investment for the Emirate.
Etihad means “Unity”, and it is apt that the Etihad Museum is located next to Union House where the treaty was signed that established the UAE in 1971.
The museum has been designed to take the shape of a manuscript, with seven columns that each represent the pens that were used to sign the original declaration. Within the museum, there will be eight ‘pavilions’, which will showcase the history of the UAE in an interactive manner.
The development will cover 2.5 hectares, and the project also involves the restoration of Union House.
There will also be permanent and temporary halls, a theatre, an educational and recreational area, as well as administration offices.
The Etihad Museum will be the first of its kind in the UAE – and is set to open in December.
